Without question, eternal is the free gift of God given to believers, as Paul states in Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” At the same time, and in the same New Testament, we also read that the pursuit of sanctification is absolutely necessary for anyone to enter into eternal life. How can these ideas be reconciled?
